Several attendees of Blainesburg Bible Church have committed to becoming members of the church. Members have voting rights according to the corporate bylaws of Blainesburg Bible Church. Members have also committed to accountability of living a Christlike example.
Sometimes there is confusion as to what church membership means. First, it is not a ticket to heaven. Jesus explained in John 14:6 that he is the way, the truth and the life and no one comes to the Father except through him. Members must already believe that Jesus died on the cross for their sins and rose again from the dead. They must already have received Jesus as their Savior. Church membership covers a twofold purpose. First, according to the bylaws of the corporate side of most churches, one must be an “official” member to be able to vote at church business meetings. Second, the membership application is a signed document that holds members to a level of accountability as long as they wish to remain members.

No one needs to be a “member” of a church to be saved. The free gift of God, which is eternal life, is freely and fully available by simply believing Jesus dies on the cross to pay the penalty for your sins and that he rose again the third day. Believe that, confess your sin in prayer, ask Jesus to be your Savior and repent (turn your back on the old sinful life).
The Apostle Paul advised believers to not forsake the assembling of themselves together. That’s why we go to church. We worship the Lord together, learn God’s word, apply it to our lives and grow in faith. Official membership at church is extra responsibility and accountability to those who wish to participate.
