Panic and Worry and A N X I E T Y Oh My!

Introduction

I mentioned at our gathering that teaching on this subject was put on my heart months ago. Well, that was not the whole truth. I actually began to see the necessity of teaching people the biblical side of this very real problem years ago. I have a preliminary research file on my computer that dates back to May 9, 2014.

After an initial class teaching about the prevalence of obsessive-compulsive disorder behaviors I had noticed in Christians, there were no more classes. The behaviors continued to exist, but it was as if very few wanted a solution. People would tell me about their fears, feelings of depression and other things, such as their OCD rituals, but they seemed to look at the symptoms as just being part of normal life.

Pray, Fast and Fight!

Due to the many illness within our church and those who are affiliated with our church, whether it be physical, mental or spiritual, our Pastor has called for corporate fast and prayer to bombard heaven to make our requests known to the Lord regarding this situation.

Bags, Baggage and Luggage Filled With Bad Seeds

This article is a supplemental to the message I (Cody) delivered to the church on November 11, 2018.

The message dealt with things we fill up our heart with or allow our hearts to be filled up with. Obviously, I am not talking about the heart as a biological organ. Rather, I am referring to the inner-self, or the inner-man as Paul the Apostle refers to in Ephesians 3:16, Romans 7:22 and 2 Corinthians 4:16.

I like the King James Version of Luke 6:43-45 because of the word “abundance.” It means “surplus.” Jesus speaks of it after describing how bad trees bring forth bad fruit and good trees bring forth good fruit.

For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
